Kenya Missionaries

Kenya is an East African country bordering the Indian Ocean. It is home to 111 People Groups, 32 of whom remain unreached according to the Joshua Project. The largest People Group is the Kikuyu who came from the North. Traditionally the founder of the Kikuyu was a man named Gikuyu who was given his wife Mumbi by Ngai (God) and told to build a homestead where he found a unique bird species called "Nyagathanga". Mumbi gave birth to 9 daughters who became the founders of the clans of the Kikuyu. Missionaries struggle against a Roman Catholicism which has been heavily influenced by ethnic African religions.

Christian Aid supports indigenous missionaries who are caring for the widows and orphans of this state, rehabilitating and giving vocational training as needed.
